As we described earlier, ZSSK will acquire 15 more Vectrons on lease from RSL over the next two years. The first two of these, 193 025 and 032, were taken over on 5 December 2024 and presented to the public the following day.
On 26 September, RS Lease and Siemens Mobility have signed a framework agreement for the delivery of up to 65 Vectrons.
On 7 October 2024, the process of withdrawal of the Class 350 locomotives was symbolically started in the Bratislava hlavné (main station) locomotive depot.
ZSSK continues to modernise its fleet. On 15 February 2024 at 10.30 the first KISS EMU was put into regular operation at Nové Zámky in the presence of representatives of the Slovak Ministry of Transport and the management of Stadler and ZSSK.
After the tests at the VUZ Velim centre, unit 561.002 was transported from Velim to Kúty in Slovakia on 2 August 2023.
On 6 June 2023 at the Rail Business Days in Ostrava, Stadler and ZSSK presented the first six-car double-deck KISS EMU of the Class 561 to the public.
ŽOS Vrútky presented in Berlin a Bdmpz second class coach for Slovak railways. The latter has ordered in total 17 cars of this type.
Another novelty from Stadler are the Class 561 double-deck EMUs, of which four were ordered by ZSSK in December 2021.
Final assembly of the KISS EMUs for ZSSK is underway at the Stadler Siedlce works since summer of 2022.
On 27 May 2022, the first ZSSK locomotive in the new corporate design was put into service.
After the rack-and-pinion railway in Vysoké Tatry (Ozubnicová železnica, OŽ) was cleared of snow on Friday 11 February, test runs began the very next day.
For 16 February 2022, it is planned to start passenger operation on the rack-and-pinion Štrba - Štrbské Pleso line in Vysoké Tatry.
