On 28 January 2025, ZSSK announced a public tender for the conversion of 10 Class Bmeer cars into couchette cars. The future contract also includes an option for the reconstruction of another 10 carriages. The investment, estimated at 36.5 million EUR, should enable an increase in the capacity and quality of ZSSK‘s night transport. The modernisation includes a complete interior refurbishment, including the replacement of entrance and front gangway doors, the installation of air conditioning, vacuum toilets, an information system, electromagnetic rail brakes and a new central power supply, and suchlike.

This project complements the planned purchase (or modernisation) of sleeper cars, whereby ZSSK aims to meet the needs of different groups of passengers - from those requiring maximum comfort to those looking for economical solutions.
