On 26 September, RS Lease and Siemens Mobility have signed a framework agreement for the delivery of up to 65 Vectrons. The agreement includes "a fast delivery of 30 Vectron MS locomotives: deliveries are to start in 2025 and will continue until 2028. There is also a option to purchase 35 additional locomotives of both Vectron MS and Vectron Dual Mode variants."
Although Tibor Čunderlík, RSL's General Manager, expressed in Berlin that this contract is not related to the tender for the contract "Lease of multi-system locomotives", which was announced by ZSSK on 4 September 2024 and concerns the lease of 15 Vectron MS locomotives for ten years including maintenance with an option to lease another 15 machines, it was the offer from Rolling Stock Lease that was evaluated as the winning bid on 15 October.
No other bidder entered the competition. However, this was to be expected given the very short delivery deadlines, as ZSSK requires that the first five locomotives be delivered by 10 December 2024 at the latest. Similarly, it will probably not be a big surprise now if, despite the above statements, the first new Vectrons from RSL will arrive in Slovakia already this December.
