On 17 July 2024, Alstom signed a long awaited contract with ÖBB to upgrade up to 449 vehicles with the ETCS OBUs.

Many operators are facing the difficult problem of upgrading or retrofitting the ETCS OBUs (On-Board Units) to their Taurus locomotives. Moreover, the same is true for the railjet non-traction multiple units (NMUs) of ÖBB and ČD.

After the four cars from the first shortened, six-car ComfortJet test set were transported from VUZ Velim test circuit to Austria on 10 November 2023, they already started the tests on the ÖBB network.

One of the two prototypes of the CRRC-built Class 181 electric-battery locomotives purchased by Rail Cargo Hungaria has undergone tests in Bulgaria to measure compatibility with infrastructure.

On 29 September 2021, locomotives 1216 951 - 954, which ČD bought from Wiener Lokalbahn Cargo, arrived in the Czech Republic. 

The four Type ES64U4 Eurosprinters which ČD decided to acquire from Wiener Lokalbahnen Cargo are being prepared for a handover to their new owner.
