PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL has started using one Dragon 2 (Type E6MST) locomotive. 

Dragon 2 Type E6MST locomotives, i.e. the Polish Class ET43, have been appearing occasionally on freight trains in Poland since the beginning of April.

At the beginning of May, Siemens Mobility announced that PKP CARGO had handed over all five Vectrons from the last order placed so far.

On 28 February 2023, ERA granted approval for Type E6MST Dragon 2, i. e. Polish Class ET43 locomotive.

Another case of quite complicated route being used for the transport of imported coal, on account of congestion in large ports, is the just started transport of coal to Poland from Lithuania.

NEWAG exhibited a Type E6MST locomotive, better known by its commercial name Dragon 2.

As part of the approval of the Class ET43 of PKP CARGO for operation in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, test runs with the ET43-001 were carried out this April on the Správa železnic network.

As part of the approval of the PKP CARGO’s Class ET43 for operation in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, test runs with ET43-001 were carried out this April on the Czech public network after previous tests on the VUZ Velim test centre (from late 2020). After that, Dragon returned to Velim again and then headed to Slovakia in early June.

Following a test program at the VUZ Velim centre (see here and here), the required tests on the public railway network were started with the locomotive ET43-001 (3 260 003).

Newag is currently building a batch of 24 dual-voltage Class ET43 locomotives for PKP Cargo.

On 30 November 2020, ET43-001, which is destined for PKP Cargo, arrived int the VUZ Velim test centre.

As we described earlier, during production of the second batch of MÁV-START KISS EMUs, Stadler switched from road to rail transport of these trains.

On 16 April 2020 PKP Cargo published tender for five multi-system locomotives. This is the last of the PKP Cargo’s batches of those vehicles, for which 50 % of the purchase price is to be supported by EU’s Cohesion funds through the POIiŚ (Program Operacyjny Infrastruktura i Środowisko - OP Infrastructure and Environment), supporting purchase of technics for intermodal transport in Poland.

Simultaneously with the locomotives for LOTOS Kolej, Newag is building the new Dragons for PKP Cargo.
