A private railway Kintetsu will introduce new Class 8A EMUs on the Kyoto line on 7 October 2024.
On the night of 31 May 2024, the first Class 8A EMUs produced by Kinki Sharyo were transferred to Kintetsu's Takayasu depot.
Two four-car Class 9300 EMUs were built by Kinki Sharyo using parts supplied by Mitsubishi Electric, Hitachi and Toyo Electric.
The sole EMU in the fleet was built in 1990 to serve excursion services operated on the 1,435 mm gauge part of the Kintetsu railway network. Now it is ready to offer more comfort.
