Nexrail Lease exhibited two locomotives, a representative of the first DE 18 SmartHybrid series in production and the brand new pure battery e6, developed and produced in cooperation with the Italian company IPE 2000 Locomotori.

Nexrail is expanding its leasing business in Western Europe with the addition of 50 low-emission DE 18 Stage V locomotives from Vossloh Rolling Stock.

Although Vossloh Rolling Stock has made significant strides towards dual-power and emission-free locomotives, it is not abandoning diesel locomotives for the future, as they are difficult to substitute in some applications. 

At InnoTrans 2022, Vossloh Locomotives presented its new name, Vossloh Rolling Stock, for the first time and also exhibited two locomotives - the DE 18 and the completely new Modula EBB.

On 18 January 2022 it was also announced that DB Cargo and Vossloh Locomotives signed at the end of 2021 an order for 50 Type DM 20-BDD hybrid locomotives.

On 29 September 2021, Siemens Mobility and Vossloh Locomotives signed an agreement to equip the latter’s Type DM 20-EBB locomotives with on-board ETCS Level 2.

On 15 September 2021, Vossloh Locomotives, Nexrail Lease and InfraVia Capital Partners announced that they have entered into an agreement that Nexrail will take over 53 diesel shunters from the existing leasing pool of Vossloh Locomotives. Simultaneously, Nexrail ordered 50 new DE 18 Stage V SmartHybrid locomotives.

On 23 June 2021, Paribus Rail Investment Management GmbH has signed a framework agreement on behalf of its long-standing investment partner, RIVE Private Investment, to purchase up to 50 Type DM 20-EBB (Dual-Mode) emission-free shunting and mainline locomotives.

On 1 June 2021, Vossloh Locomotives was awarded type approval by ERA for the Type DE18 locomotive in Italy.
