TRAXXes for PCC Intermodal

There is another one operator for the TRAXX3 MS locomotives and the first one based in Poland. PCC Intermodal placed an order for four of them in June 2021 and all four, 388 063 - 066, moved from Kassel to Poland together on 16 June 2023. By the end of the month they started to be put into operation. PCC Intermodal is also an intermodal transport operator with five own terminals in Poland.

Like in many other cases of rolling stock used for intermodal operations of Polish keepers, also these TRAXXes were purchased using the support programme under which 50 % of the eligible costs should be covered by the EU Cohesion Fund through the Polish combined transport support programme announced under POIiŚ 2014 - 2020.

The locomotives are of the same version as those of ČD Cargo and RegioJet, i. e. equipped for operation in Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Austria, although in the latter country only on secondary lines for the time being, as their ETCS OBU is not approved for operation in Austria. PCC Intermodal currently operates 15 electric locomotives of various types.
