Option For Romanian Coradias Confirmed

On 16 September 2022, Alstom and the Romanian Railway Reform Authority (ARF) have signed an addendum to the initial contract for the delivery of 17 additional Coradia Stream inter-regional EMUs and associated 15 years maintenance services. These trains will supplement the first 20 trains, ordered in March 2022, creating the first passenger railway fleet provided by Alstom in Romania.

The 160 km/h six-car trains will have 350 seats, and will be produced in Chorzów. They will also be equipped with on-board ETCS and a digital system for passenger counting. The final configuration, colors and finishes will be fully customised according to the requirements of the contracting authority during the design stage. The new batch will be delivered after the first one, which is scheduled for delivery by the end of 2024.
