Traktionssysteme Austria has secured a significant service contract for the maintenance of its traction motors in CAF Urbos 3 trams in Belgrade. The contract, signed in February 2025 with public transport operator GSP Beograd, includes the overhaul of TSA motors as part of the TSA PitStop service program throughout the year.

To guarantee the long-term performance and operational reliability of traction motors, TSA has developed a sophisticated service concept: TSA PitStop. This tailored maintenance and servicing program provides an efficient and cost-effective way to restore traction machines to peak performance in the shortest possible time. TSA combines decades of experience in electric drive development with state-of-the-art diagnostics and precision maintenance strategies.

The service offering includes detailed inspections, comprehensive overhauls, replacement of worn components, and performance-enhancing upgrades. Customers benefit from minimal downtime, as the TSA PitStop approach is designed to get vehicles back into operation as quickly as possible. With over 1,400 units serviced in 2024 and a global customer base of more than 60 satisfied clients, the TSA PitStop program has established itself as a benchmark for sustainable value retention and efficiency.

TSA motors: the beating heart of Belgrade’s trams

Traktionssysteme Austria developed and manufactured the TMR 36-18-4 traction motors used in 30 five-section low-floor CAF Urbos 3 trams with a track gauge of 1,000 mm operating in Belgrade. These vehicles, equipped with TSA motors between 2010 and 2012, have been a key component of Belgrade’s public transport system since 2011. The TSA TMR 36-18-4 motor was specifically designed to meet the demands of Belgrade’s urban transport system and features a stator winding optimized for 600V DC operation.

Beyond Belgrade, TSAs also present in other Serbian transport projects. In Novi Sad, TSA motors power 10 Solaris Urbino 12 Electric buses operated by JGSP Novi Sad. Additionally, TSA traction motors are installed in electric multiple units of Serbia’s national passenger railway company, Srbijavoz. These include 21 four-car FLIRT 3 EMUs, 18 four-car FLIRT 4 EMUs, and three four-car KISS 200 double-deck trains.
