Demichovsky mashinostroitelny zavod (DMZ) has ramped up to its planned capacity of gearboxes for the Class EGE2Tv Ivolga 4.0 EMUs manufactured at TVZ in Tver. The design and preparation for the production of the gearboxes took 18 months, with the aim of replacing foreign supplies. The total investment in the modernization of the workshops at DMZ amounted to 1.8 billion RUB (around 16.7 million EUR), of which 1.45 billion RUB was provided by the FRP (Fond razvitia promyshlennosti, Industrial Development Fund) in the form of a soft loan.

With the support of FRP and TMH, the plant purchased 11 machine tools. The first gearboxes were built in May 2024. Then in November, DMZ produced 50 gearboxes for the EGE2Tv EMUs, reaching the specified capacity of 600 gearboxes per year. The gearboxes have a service life of 40 years. DMZ also produces, for example, wheelsets for Metrowagonmash metro cars.
