On 1 July 2024, the first KISS for ÖBB arrived at the VUZ Velim test centre. It is a four-car Class 4734 EMU, of which the Austrian state operator has ordered 42 units with a maximum speed of 160 km/h. In addition to these, an order has been placed for 20 six-car KISSes, which will be designated Class 4736. These all come from the framework contract for up to 186 trains that ÖBB signed with Stadler in April 2022. Subsquently, 21 more four-car units were ordered in July 2023 (deliveries scheduled until 2027) and 47 more four-car units in August 2024 (deliveries until 2030).
VUZ will carry out selected type tests on 4734 001. The KISS of this class will be on display at this year's InnoTrans.
