EMKA2 received a certificate of conformity

On 15 March 2024, the first 3 kV DC hybrid shunting locomotive in the history of Russian transport engineering with an asynchronous drive and on-board energy storage, EMKA2, received a certificate of conformity of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) valid for five years. The certificate confirms compliance with the requirements of the TR TS 001/2011 standards and gives the right to start batch production of locomotives and their operation in the territory of the EAEU.

The EMKA2-001 prototype was built at NEVZ in 2023. It successfully passed a full cycle of factory tests, runs on the VNIIZhT Shcherbinka test ring and at Belorechensk. It is planned to begin its operation in 2024, and to start production for RZD from 2025.
