1,500th Class 3ES5K Yermak

On 1 November 2023, NEVZ delivered to RZD an anniversary AC mainline electric freight locomotive 3ES5K No. 1500. It will be operated at the Chita depot of the Trans-Baikal Traction Directorate.

The first three-section Yermak was built in 2007, based on the two-section Class 2ES5K. Starting from 1 January 2021, all 3ES5K Yermaks are equipped with auto-driving systems. 

Yermaks are available in two-, three- and four-section versions. NEVZ has built a total of 5,995 sections of this model to date. Yermaks are the second largest series ever produced at Novocherkassk (of the largest batch, Class VL80, was built 10,340 sections in total). Today, the ES5K Yermaks are becoming the basis of the AC freight electric locomotive fleet of RZD, their share in the fleet already exceeds 50 %.
