On 19 May 2020, Metrovagonmash (MVM) sent a new metro train to Metroelektrotrans of Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan. The contract for one four-car Model 81-765.4К/766.4К unit based on the Type Moskva 2019 and consisting of two powered end and two powered intermediate cars was signed in October 2019. In this new train, one of the recent MVM’s technical innovations was used - electrodynamic braking of the train to a complete stop.
The design of the train provides the broad inter-car gangways, which allows passengers to freely move along the train. During a coronavirus pandemic, the presence of such gangways helps passengers to move freely along the cars and to minimise contact between people. Additional protection against the spread of COVID-19 infection is provided by modern automatic air disinfection systems.
In the interior, LED lamps are installed that change lighting depending on the time of day - in the morning, invigorating cold light, in the evening, a relaxing warm is included. Compared with the trains of previous versions, the driver’s console has been changed: added was a wireless headset that provides uninterrupted communication with the dispatch center.
Metrovagonmash and Kazan Metro have been cooperating since 2010. During this time, 27 metro cars were delivered for the Kazan network.
