The first new Type 122NaSF2 trams built by PESA, Bydgoszcz for Stolichen Electrotransport was presented today in the capital of Bulgaria. Tomorrow it will start regular passenger service on line 18.
13 of these vehicles are on order following the awarding of a contract worth over 98 million PLN in January 2019, this including also the delivery of spare parts and diagnostic devices as well as the necessary training. The air-conditioned low-floor Swings are 30 m long and they can carry 41 seated and up to 160 standing passengers.
These trams form a third batch of Swings for Sofia. So far 25 have been delivered in two contracts, the first one awarded in 2013 for 20 vehicles and the second one in 2016 for five more. Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandykova said that a new tender was invited for delivery of 25 more trams for Sofia, with three companies, including Pesa, submitting their offers.
