On 25 September, Green Mobility Partners (GMP) signed a framework contract with Siemens Mobility for 50 Vectron MS locomotives. Wien-based GMP was established earlier 2024 and is a new player in the European locomotive rental market, offering a full range of related services. It has not been announced who is behind the new company, but it is a private capital.
In a first step, GMP has now ordered eight Vectrons with a top speed of 200 km/h and a power of 6,400 kW, together with locomotive maintenance by the manufacturer. Deliveries of the locomotives are scheduled to begin in mid-2025.
The contract with GMP was signed at locomotive 193 489. The founder of GMP is Christoph Katzensteiner, who also founded ELL served as its CEO until 2022. So GMP is indeed a new customer of Siemens Mobility, but given Mr Katzensteiner's previous roles, where he awarded his first Vectron contract in 2014, GMP is actually an experienced customer.
