At the stand of ULTIMATE Europe Transportation Equipment, based in St. Georgen am Ybbsfelde (east of Linz), which supplies door systems, inter-car gangways and interior components, including those for ČD‘s ComfortJets, entrance doors for new trams, tentatively designated as Škoda ForCity Plus Praha 52T, were on display. Entry to the trams will be possible via a five double-leaf door with a clear width of 1,300 mm.

ULTIMATE  Europe stated that it is proud to be the supplier for the new Škoda trams for Praha. The innovative door system brings significant improvements in safety, energy consumption, and sustainability. This common project highlights key advancements in ULTIMATE Europe‘s door system, focusing on a well-proven guiding and locking principle with optimized dimensional improvements in combination with easier and faster maintainability.

Significant weight reduction contribute to lower overall energy consumption, which results in a lower carbon footprint: the complete door system has a weight of 131 kg, the main weight improvements happened on door actuator from 62 kg to 51 kg.

The durable door system is further optimized with enhanced door actuator stiffness and the integration of door pillar bearings at the top. ULTIMATE Europe‘s maintenance-free ball bearing guiding system is well known for the smooth movement without any considerable play. Furthermore, it ensures low maintenance costs over the product life cycle. Integrated sensitive edges on front and back edges in combination with a door control unit providing SIL2 certification contributes to an overall safe and reliable system.
