On 9 October 2024, TMH announced that DMZ will build five Class EP2D EMUs by the end of November 2024 to renew the fleet of regional express trains of the TsPPK (Central Suburban Passenger Company). The first two eleven-car units were handed over to the customer in September. Two trains will be adapted for access to high and low platforms, three - to high platforms.
The new Class EPD2 EMUs will be operated on the Moscow railway under the REKS (Region-Express) brand - blue with a dog named Rex, painted on the sides. Each 3 kV DC unit is designed to transport more than 2,800 passengers (at maximum capacity) and is equipped with 778 seats.
