Coradia Smart On Test At VUZ

On 23 December 2022, Alstom-built ETR 104 140 four-car EMU, appeared in Velim. Designated Coradia Smart, it is derived from the Coradia Stream family, which has the commercial name Pop at Trenitalia. However, apart from Pop being a common commercial name by Trenitalia in the musical styles (Rock or Swing, among others), the manufacturer states that in French it stands for "porteur polyvalent", which means "multipurpose carrier". However, Alstom did not provide us with more details about this train and the length of its stay in the Czech Republic.

We can only add that there are recent orders for Italy:

ETR.103 (Pop) = 34 units, of them 27 Emilia + 4 Abruzzo + 3 Lombardy,

ETR.104 (Pop) = 172 units, of them 43 Apulia + 31 Veneto + 21 Sicily + 20 Emilia + 15 Piedmont + 15 Liguria + 12 Campania + 7 Lombardy + 4 Marche + 4 Calabria,

Coradia Stream (Donizetti) = 31 units for Lombardy.

Resulting from the service contracts recently signed by some regions (Tuscany, Marche, Campania and Calabria) with Trenitalia, there are further acquisitions of Pop trains,  in particular, Campania will purchase 12 ETR.104s:
ETR.104 - 3 in 2022,
ETR.104 - 3 in 2023,
ETR.104 - 2 in 2024,
ETR.104 - 4 in 2025.
