Following the awarding of the contract in the summer of 2022, it is now definite: the Geneve-based public transport company Transports publics genevois (TPG) and Stadler signed on 12 December 2022 a contract for the delivery of 38 TRAMLINKs with an option for up to 25 more. The new trams are intended for the expansion of the route network planned by TPG. The first vehicles are expected to enter service from the end of 2025. Stadler and TPG are continuing their long-standing partnership for more than 10 years after the delivery of a total of 41 TANGO trams in several batches.
The bi-directional TRAMLINKs, which are 44 m long and 2.3 m wide, can transport up to 250 passengers. Each tram has a HVAC system that runs on the natural refrigerant CO2. This helps to ensure environmentally friendly operation and promotes the climate plan adopted by the Geneva Cantonal Council. The trams have a low-floor design, even the areas above the bogies (with continuous axles) can be reached without ramps or steps. Stadler developed the design of this TRAMLINK model with a special front especially for TPG.
