On 13 May 2024, RegioPanter 640.234 of ČD in PID colours (Pražská integrovaná doprava, Prague's integrated transport) was put into test operation with passengers on the S4 Praha - Kralupy nad Vltavou line. During this period, the unit will be used mainly for staff training, and according to the current needs it will serve up to three pairs of trains between Praha and Kralupy nad Vltavou daily.
By the end of this year, a total of 22 of these RegioPanters will be on the lines in Praha, the Central Bohemia and Ústí nad Labem regions, increasing the capacity of suburban electric trains by 4,950 seats. The total number of CityElefant and RegioPanter EMUs in the PID system will thus exceed 90 trains and will offer passengers a total of almost 27,000 seats.
From December 2024, the new RegioPanters will be used on the S4 Praha - Kralupy nad Vltavou - Ústí nad Labem line, where the rush-hour services between Praha and Kralupy nad Vltavou will be operated in double traction with a capacity of up to 450 seats, and only one RegioPanter will run on the less frequented section from Kralupy nad Vltavou to Ústí nad Labem. The second line served by the new trains will be the R 41 Praha - Kolín - Kutná Hora, which in the new concept will offer all-day fast travel from all towns and villages between Poříčany and Kolín to the capital.
A total of 22 Class 640.2 EMUs for the PID are part of the ČD contract for 60 RegioPanters. Their maximum speed is 160 km/h, power 2,040 kW, weight over 150 t and length 79.4 m. The Central Bohemian RegioPanters differ from these units for other regions in their interior, where the number of 1st class seats is higher. The latter compartments are located at both ends of the train behind the driver's cabs and offer a total of 16 seats, which is twice as many as in the other Class 640.2 RegioPanters. In total, each PID RegioPanter offers 225 seats.
