New carriage for Aurora certified

On 27 November 2024, TVZ received a certificate of compliance with the requirements of the Customs Union Technical Regulation TR TS 001/2011 "On the safety of railway rolling stock" for the improved Model 61-4492 double-deck carriage with seats, and new Model 68-4120 bogie.

The new car will be part of the new "Aurora" train, which will be put into service in December and will run between Moskva and St. Peterburg. Its external appearance will differ from the standard red-white or red-grey RZD design - it will be dominated by blue. An individual design is prepared for all carriages using pictures of landmarks of both cities: Moskva - in the lower deck, St. Peterburg in the upper deck. Each seat is equipped with individual sockets (220 V, USB, type C). The cars are equipped with sealed inter-car gangways, boarding steps with built-in folding ramps and a high-capacity battery.

In 2024, TVZ produced a total of 25 Model 61-4492.02 car (five 1st class and twenty 2nd class cars, with 60 and 104 seats respectively). In addition to these, the train will also include Model 61-4465 cars with sleeping compartments (SV), a Model 61-4472 service car with spaces for disabled passengers, and a Model 61-4473 restaurant car. Two trains of 15 cars will be created, with a total capacity of 1,240 seats per train. The cars of model 61-4492 have been in service on Russian Railways since 2015.
