On Friday, 15 December 2023, Pasažieru vilciens started regular operation with the Class 16EV EMUs. This was after Škoda Group obtained type approval for them on 17 November. The units with the new commercial name Vivi are being diagrammed on routes from Riga to Tukums, Aizkraukle and Skulte. From 16 December, they will also serve the route to Egļava. Currently three RegioPanters are in service, and PV plans to have 18 to 19 operating by the end of 2023.
The new Vivi brand is an abbreviation of the words "Vienā vilcienā" ("On the same train"). According to PV, the brand is internationally legible and "symbolises getting from A to B in a fast, predictable and reliable way". Linguistically, 'vivi' is derived from the Latin 'vīvus' ('alive') and emphasises mobility, opportunities for life and sustainable development through rail transport.
