The second exhibit of the Chinese manufacturer at InnoTrans 2024 was the ART 2.0 vehicle, a product of the CRRC Zhuzhou plant. Exhibited ART 2.0 is an articulated three-section "tram on tyres" with a length of 30.8 m, a maximum speed 100 km/h, intended for cities without a tramway network.
The exhibited vehicle has a hydrogen drive for which a claimed range is of 390 km. Battery versions with a range of 100 km per charge are also being offered. It is envisaged to operate it in dedicated lanes of the road (similar to BRT, Bus Rapid Transit), where the vehicle automatically follows a virtual path defined by horizontal markings on the road; manual intervention by the driver is possible.
The ART vehicles are already in operation on six different routes in China, but the manufacturer is trying to break through with them outside the "Middle Kingdom" and offers including test runs have been made in Malaysia, Qatar and Mexico, for example. CRRC named the vehicle Green Peacock depicted on its livery at Berlin fair grounds. It is also worth mentioning the low-quality of the interior elements, which contrasted not only with the interior design of European manufacturers, but also with the CINOVA H2 unit.
