First Class 4748 Desiro in Tyrol

On 11 August 2023, the first of 20 Cityjet Desiro ML EMUs arrived in Tyrol. They will be in service from October on the line between Innsbruck and Kufstein as suburban trains for Verkehrsverbund Tirol. Other routes will gradually follow, such as those between Landeck and Innsbruck and, from 2024, the route from Wörgl to Salzburg. The new 100 m long four-car Class 4748 units will now be prepared for operation with passengers until October. This includes, among other things, extensive training of ÖBB staff in the workshops and for the drivers of the new trains.

In keeping with the Tyrolean landscape, the trains are decorated on the outside with red mountains against a white background, and these are also found in a similar design on the seats. In this way it is provided a regional reference for passengers in Tyrol.
