In June 2021, TMH PRO (TMH Promyshlennye reshenia, Industrial Solutions) delivered a batch of eight Class TEM18DM shunting diesel locomotives, produced by BMZ, to Severstal. This steel mining company will use seven of them, TEM18DM-3305, 3306, 3309, 3310, 3314, 3315 and 3316, at CherMK (Cherepovetsky metallurgichesky kombinat, Cherepovets Steel Mill), northwest of Yaroslavl, and one, TEM18DM-3317, at Karelsky okatysh, a major iron ore mining complex, situated around 500 km northeast of St. Peterburg.

As requested by the customer, the locomotives for CherMK were equipped with a automatic diesel engine start-stop system (SAZDT). The latter is integrated in the engine’s cooling circuit and can manage the temperature of the cooling agent without driver’s attention. It can automatically start and stop the engine when the temperature rises or drops to set points. This helps maintain the operating performance of a locomotive in the cold time of the year.

Class TEM18DMs are built since 2007, achieving a total of over 1,500 machines currently in operation in Russia and other countries - Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Belarus.
