56 Siemens-Built EMUs For Augsburg Rail Networks

On 31 January 2019 Go-Ahead Verkehrsgesellschaft Deutschland has commissioned Siemens Mobility to deliver 56 regional EMUs. The trains are planned for use on the electrified routes of the „Augsburger Netze“, Lot 1 in southwestern Bavaria. A total of 44 three-car Mireo EMUs and 12 five-car Desiro HC double-deck EMUs are to be delivered. Both types of trains can be combined, enabling the operator to flexibly adapt to changing passenger demand. The order is worth around 400 million EUR. Passenger service with the new trains is scheduled to begin in December 2022.
