Tesmec at InnoTrans

posted on 24th Sep 2024 11:13

Tesmec will be present at InnoTrans with its own booth no. 160, in Hall 26: the leading role will be represented by its historical expertise in the overhead line installation and by its centralized diagnostic platform on cloud with Artificial Intelligence for a smarter maintenance, in addition to Tesmec technological excellence for catenary maintenance and for the diagnostic of railway infrastructure to support the development of a safer and more sustainable railway network allowing people and freight to travel safely and efficiently.

Developed in collaboration with Azure in compliance with cybersecurity policies, the platform integrates machine learning algorithms based on the history of defects and accumulated quality indices. The analysis of trends and correlation of data on the web platform using artificial intelligence leads to predictive maintenance. The new intelligent diagnostic platform that validates maintenance strategies by analyzing real-time data and historical information. This results in optimized maintenance planning, reduced unplanned downtime, and increased plant efficiency. The platform helps companies make data-driven decisions and improve their maintenance processes.

First bimodal diagnostic vehicle designed and manufactured by Tesmec: model OCPD005

The model OCPD005, named by RFI as “Type 4”, has a bimodal propulsion system: this means that the vehicles can be powered both from the contact line at 3 kV DC or from a diesel gen-set. Currently the first vehicle has being tested at the testing laboratory in Osmannoro (FI). Type 4 represents the peak of Tesmec technological level applied for the railway diagnostic; it’s a technological jewel designed and manufactured by Tesmec which integrates over 15 advanced diagnostic systems for the inspection of railway Infrastructure, in detail for the electric traction, the superstructure, signaling, telecommunications and video inspection of the railway lines.

The management and analysis of the data collected are entrusted to a cloud-based diagnostic platform with artificial Intelligence. This innovation guarantees a precise and timely analysis of the defects detected along the railway infrastructure and their evolutionary trends, optimizing maintenance processes in a predictive manner and then facilitating interventions by the work teams.

New generation of diagnostic vehicles compared to traditional solutions and manual or visual inspections

Tesmec offers a new generation of diagnostic vehicles, compared to the traditional solutions and manual or visual inspections: the line OCPD002 enriched with diagnostic measuring and vision systems allowing the following measurements: track geometry and wear (EN13848 compliant), rail corrugation, turnouts geometry and defects detection, defects detection on track infrastructure, running dynamics, wheel-rail interaction, contact wire geometry and wear (up to 4 wires), dynamic interaction between pantograph and contact wire, defect detection on catenary infrastructure, clearance gauge, GeoRadar Ballast statement detection.

Tesmec proposes different options of powering to suit customers’ interest:

- diagnostic vehicles with the latest generation of diesel engine with low fuel consumption and noise emissions, besides efficient reduction of gas emissions: model OCPD002 with diesel engine,

- hybrid diagnostic vehicles with hydraulic transmission (hydrostatic) and electric transmission with batteries: model OCPD002-e.

A major significant milestone is represented by the AISM "Authorisation to place on the market” issued from ANSFISA, National Agency for the Safety of Railways and Road and Motorway Infrastructures, for the integrated diagnostic vehicle, as it equates the vehicle to the most modern passenger trains, allowing it to run on open line traffic on any route of the national network.

Catenary working operations can be executed faster and safer

Tesmec Rail presents a technological super compact catenary maintenance vehicle: the model OCPC401, a multipurpose axle working vehicle designed according to the EN14033-1/2/3 Standards, equipped with n°2 driver's cabins on both ends of the bodyshell. Thanks to its configuration this solution offers outstanding performances and quality for railway operators. The vehicle is equipped with:

- a working platform to host up to 4 operators;
- a loading crane to which it is possible to connect a working basket in PLE configuration (for 2 operators), or various equipment for line maintenance (e.g. brushcutters, track lifts, ballast buckets, sleeper lifts, snow ploughs, etc.);
- a hydraulic derrik for lifting and positioning the contact wires;
- earthing pantograph, for operators to work in complete safety;
- any diagnostic systems for the geometry of the catenary, to evaluate the quality of the work carried out;
- the vehicle can be equipped with an On-Board Technological System to allow circulation on the network.

The working platform, designed with precision, reaches a peak height of 7,000 mm above top of rail and max lateral extension of 3,410 mm on both right/left sides, respect to the vehicle’s centerline. It's a column type platform, capable of carrying 4 workers and their tools with a maximum capacity of 540 kg. The work execution can be easier thanks to a remote-control unit which manages all the functions of the working platform.
