On 27 November 2024, two months prior to starting the service on the former suspended route Cuneo - Saluzzo - Savigliano, Arenaways Longitude Holding announced the expanding of its corporate structure through the entry of two shareholders leaders in the European market: Renfe Proyectos Internacionales and Serena Industrial Partners, with a minority share of 33 % each.
Renfe Proyectos Internacionales is a company 100 % owned by Renfe, Spain’s leading railway operator dedicated to managing the company’s international activities and promoting the implementation of new projects around the world.
Serena Industrial Partners is an independent fund manager focused on mid-market real infrastructure development with an industrial focus and a robust, yielding portfolio with assets mainly in Europe. Serena has a significant experience in mobility projects, having been recently awarded the first phase of the high-speed rail network and stations of the Porto - Lisbon line.
The entry of Renfe Proyectos Internacionales and Serena Industrial Partners in Longitude Holding corroborates the vision of a rail company whose ambitious mission is to redefine the train travel experience by approaching also the local connections with criteria of innovation and quality.
The expansion of the corporate structure to foreign capital leaves the company name and its Italian identity unchanged as well as the location of the headquarters in Torino. In the resulting new Board of Directors Matteo Arena is confirmed in his role of General Director and Inmaculada Gutiérrez Carrizo is appointed President. Matteo Arena’s father, Giuseppe Arena, is awarded the position of Honorary President in recognition of the fundamental contribution given to the affirmation of the Arenaways brand he created.
Thanks to the 10-years contract worth 54 million EUR signed with the Mobility Agency of Piedmont (Agenzia della Mobilità Piemontese), from January 2025 Arenaways will reactivate two suspended lines in the region: first the Cuneo - Saluzzo - Savigliano connection and then the Ceva - Ormea, upon completion of the infrastructure adaptation work by RFI.
Arenaways aims to extend the service to more secondary lines within local public transport, outside Piedmont too. Also, the company has already obtained from the ART (Transport Regulatory Authority) the authorisation to launch open-access services as well on the routes North West – North East and North-Centre-South.
