PESA-built Class 654 EMU authorised

On 16 February 2024, Drážní úřad (DÚ, the Czech Railway Authority) issued a type approval for the Class 654, i. e. the Type Regio160 manufactured by PESA Bydgoszcz. The approval was requested and issued only for operation in the Czech Republic, therefore it was not issued by ERA.

In real operation, this did not change anything outwardly, as all seven units had been deployed by RegioJet ÚK (Ústecký kraj/region) before, on the basis of a test operation permit. However, the approval of a foreign manufacturer's EMUs for operation in the Czech Republic is (so far) a relatively rare event.
