posted on 19th Sep 2024 12:35

Akiem’s extensive geographic footprint means it plays a central role in mobility in Europe for millions of passengers and millions of tonnes of freight. At InnoTrans 2024, Akiem will be highlighting the diversity of the regions it serves and the close ties it enjoys with its markets thanks to the dedication of its teams of local experts. It will be showcasing the outstanding projects and local partnerships that make each region a key actor in the European rail network.

“Akiem is present in 22 European countries, an extensive network that is testimony to our determination to support economic and social development in every part of Europe,” explains Fabien Rochefort, CEO of Akiem.

Comprising 750 locomotives and almost 50 passenger trains, Akiem’s fleet is the largest in the market, with a 25 % share of the locomotives segment. Its modern rolling stock meets the very highest standards of safety, comfort and energy efficiency. “We are determined to offer the sustainable transport solutions that will meet Europe’s mobility needs today and tomorrow. As a major economic actor, Akiem has the financial capacity to invest massively in large-scale projects and accompany changes in the rail market, while simultaneously providing our freight and passenger train operator customers with the flexibility they demand,” adds Fabien Rochefort

Akiem’s financial strength also means it can deliver the high quality maintenance services that guarantee rolling stock will benefit from optimal reliability and availability. “Our maintenance centres and network of partners are strategically located across Europe, offering the facilities that rail operators need,” explains Fabien Rochefort. “2024 saw us roll out a vast transformation programme at our Maintenance & Services division. This reinforced our maintenance value proposition, a key success factor for every rail industry actor. We also opened our Ostricourt maintenance facility in northern France, a new benchmark in terms of capacity and training for jobs in rail maintenance.”

In conclusion, Fabien Rochefort says that: “Akiem’s presence at InnoTrans 2024 symbolizes its forward-looking vision as it helps to shape the European rail system of tomorrow by combining technological innovation with environmental responsibility and operational excellence. We invite all our partners, customers and visitors to visit us on stand 445 in Hall A where they will be able to find out more about our solutions and book a visit with our teams to discover the new TRAXX MS3 Universal locomotive that we are delighted to be presenting in partnership with Alstom (track 4/10).

We ordered 75 of these locomotives in 2023, with an option for a further 25 ones. They will provide a significant increase in European rail freight capacity, making it possible to offer point-to-point freight and passenger services for the first time along the full length of the Rhine-Alps and North Sea-Mediterranean corridors connecting Italy to the Benelux countries via Germany or France.”
