50 TRAXX Universal locomotives for RAILPOOL

On 24 July 2023 Alstom and RAILPOOL have signed a contract worth around 260 million EUR for 50 TRAXX Universal quadruple-voltage locomotives. They will be fitted with the Atlas on-board ETCS and will cover operations in eight countries, namely Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, Belgium, Luxemburg and Poland.

The engineering of the locomotives will be done at Alstom Mannheim, while final assembly will take place in Kassel. Other sites involved are Wroclaw (bodyshells), Siegen (bogies) and Zürich (project management). Deliveries are scheduled to start in mid-2025 and to continue in 2026. 

RAILPOOL is one of the largest providers in Europe with around 500 locomotives and 148 passenger units, presenting an investment total of 2 billion EUR.
