RegioFoxes in test operation with passengers

On 15 August 2023, first two ČD's Class 847 DMUs started test operation with passengers. For now, 847.009 and 010 are in service, while the test operation can be carried out with six particular units, which are listed in the approval of Drážní úřad. In total, they must clock-up 50,000 km during the period of test operation. It includes local services on the Rakovník - Beroun and Praha-Smíchov - Rudná u Prahy - Beroun lines.

ČD has so far ordered 76 of these two-car DMUs, which belong to PESA's Type Regio160 family; the operator named these trains RegioFox. Under the terms of the contract, the first ordered batch of 33 units was to be delivered by the end of this year, but currently only about 20 to 25 are expected to be delivered at that time, with the manufacturer running behind schedule. Following services in the region west of the capital of Praha, they will be deployed in other locations, too.
