Pilot Batch Of The New TVZ's Restaurant Car To Be Built

On 25 October 2021 the Commission for acceptance of the Model 61-4525 double-deck dining car, which took place at TVZ, decided to produce the introductory batch of 50 cars. FPK, VNIIZhT, the RZD’s Passenger Complex Design and Engineering Bureau, the RZD’s Central Laboratory, TMH Engineering, as well as supplier companies have had their representatives in the commission.

In order to start operating on the RZD network, the certification procedure for the new cars will have to be carried out in accordance with the requirements of the Technical Regulations of the Customs Union (TR TS 001/2011).

New dining cars are designed to operate in trains consisting of the new Model 61-4523 and 61-4524 double-deck cars. Like the latter, the new restaurant coach has an improved bodyshell (using the Tb loading gauge), which allowed to enlarge the room in the upper deck. Also for the first time pneumatic suspension was used in the Russian dining car, ensuring a smoother running.

The first double-deck dining car, Model 61-4473, was created at TVZ in 2013. Now the Model 61-4525 restaurant car is a new step in the development of the family as it was designed based on the comprehensive analysis of the operating experience of the previous batches. On the lower floor there is a kitchen, washing room and bar with four seats, on the upper floor there is a dining room with 36 seats. There is a 3,000 litre refrigerator and a 700 litre freezer. The transfer of hot dishes and used utensils between the both decks is provided by a lift. In the sanitary section there are two eco-friendly toilets, shower and separate waste collection area.

In the new dining car for the first time there is a possibility for passengers to travel with a ticket - all the seats in the dining area on the upper floor are numbered and the seats are equipped with armrests. The dining car has luggage racks and a shelf for bulky luggage.
