In early February, PESA started delivery of more Class ATR220Tr DMUs for Trenitalia. The latter signed the first contract with the Bydgoszcz-based manufacturer in 2013. To date, PESA has delivered a total of 85 ATR220 DMUs to Italy, including those for the then FSE (Ferrovie del Sud Est, Bari). In March 2018 Trenitalia order 14 more units. The first of them, ATR220Tr-045, was sent to Italy on 5 February 2020, being hauled by a ČD Cargo Vectron from Bydgoszcz. The entire contract is scheduled for delivery by January 2021.

PESA is also building a batch of ten Type 2010N-10 Twist trams for Częstochowa to be delivered in 2020. They are 32 m long three-section low-floor trams with four bogies (the end bogies being powered ones), 2,400 mm wide, for 221 passengers, of those 58 seated. The first of the new Twists will start testing in Częstochowa in early March.

In early February 2020 PESA was selected as a supplier for 16 trams to Iași, Romania. They will be 30.5 m long five-section low-floor Swing trams, 2,400 mm wide, for 239 passengers, of those 58 seated. PESA told us the contract is expected to be signed in March. Then more technical parameters will be available.

Krzysztof Zdziarski, PESA Chairman, said: „PESA’s situation is being stabilised, which is evidenced by the fact that we deliver vehicles on the dates agreed with the ordering parties. We also gradually eliminate delays in the contracts and build a portfolio of orders for the future by selecting only profitable contracts. At the end of 2020 we expect a positive result on our operating activities.“
