New Tver-Built Generator Car

On 25 March 2022, TVZ presented the acceptance committee its new development - a Model 61-4551 generator car. It is designed for operation as a part of passenger trains on the non-electrified lines to supply the rake of cars with the electricity. For this purpose, it has three diesel-generators with a total power of 1,350 kW. During the run the generator car is served by one operator. 

The heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems provide the necessary conditions for the operation of the personnel and equipment at temperatures from -50 to +45 °C and relative humidity of up to 90 %. The car is also equipped with anti-fire protection and automatic fire extinguishing systems, fire alarms with indication of the location of the fire. 

In 2021 and early 2022 the prototype car successfully passed a series of tests, which confirmed compliance with the technical requirements of the design documentation. In March 2022 the acceptance committee at TVZ was demonstrated this prototype providing power supply for two double-deck cars. The members of the commission positively appraised the new development and signed the act according to which the Model 61-4551 will be assigned „O1“ and received a certificate of conformity, which will allow to start production of a pilot batch.
