More 3 kV DC Griffins for PKP IC (?)

At the beginning of August this year, PKP IC launched a tender for the purchase of 46 single-voltage 3 kV DC locomotives with a maximum speed of 160 km/h and with the on-board ETCS Level 2 for use on national lines. The first locomotives are expected to be delivered in 2025, with the entire batch to be taken over within 26 months of the conclusion of the contract. Maintenance up to and including the first P4 overhaul is to be provided by the manufacturer with the involvement of PKP IC staff.

An amount of 1.173 million PLN has been allocated for the entire contract. On 12 October 2023, the operator announced that it had opened the bids, more precisely, that only one manufacturer, Newag, had submitted a bid. This bid will now be subject to further evaluation in terms of formal compliance with the conditions described in the tender procedure.
