Starting in 2026, 17 Stadler FLIRT Nordic Express trains will come into operation with the FrontAdd System in the long-distance fleet in Norway. 34 Hübner's innovative system will be protecting the couplings of new trains for Norske Tog. The order includes the option of up to 200 additional systems for 100 trains. In addition, HÜBNER will be supplying approximately 2,600 rubber profiles for the window frames in the FLIRT Nordic Express trains starting in autumn 2025.
The HÜBNER Group presented FrontAdd for the first time at InnoTrans 2024, arousing widespread interest in the rail industry. The system reduces air resistance by approximately 3 %, thereby contributing to more energy-efficient train operation. In this way, the FrontAdd System allows for a reduction in energy consumption of around 2 %, with a corresponding effect on CO2 emissions. At the same time, it provides improved sound insulation, which reduces noise levels for train personnel. Field tests are planned with Stadler to further document these positive effects.
