On 21 January 2021, the main station in Szczecin saw the official handover of the first two Impuls 2 EDMUs built by Newag for Województwo Zachodniopomorskie (the West Pomeranian Voivodeship). The latter was the first one in Poland to order this type of vehicles, whose prototype 36WEh-001 was shown at the first time at TRAKO 2019 in Gdańsk.
The trains of a new Class EN36H, worth 40 million PLN (around 8.9 million EUR), wear a unique painting: EN36H-001 takes the colors of amber, while the green painting of EN36H-002 refers to the ecological practices of Województwo Zachodniopomorskie. Tomasz Sobieraj, Deputy Marshal of the latter said that an order for the batch Impuls EDMUs will follow soon, this being possible on account of the option for 10 more units worth 200 million PLN (around 44.7 million EUR).
The Class EN36H EDMU has a top speed of 160 km/h in electric mode and 120 km/h in diesel mode. It can accommodate 302 passengers, including 150 seated.
