Contract Signature: Stadler Is To Supply The FLIRT Nordic Express Trains To Norway

In mid-February, Norske tog announced that the contract for delivery of 17 single-deck long-distance trains had been awarded to Stadler. Following the expiry of the objection period, Stadler and Norske tog signed the contract on 8 March 2023. The latter includes options for up to 83 additional trains of the new FLIRT Nordic Express family. The first units are expected to replace parts of the existing fleet on the Bergensbanen from 2026.
The new eight-car FLIRTNEX trains will offer space for up to 542 passengers, will have a maximum speed of 200 km/h and will be available in EMU and EDMU versions. Like Norske tog's existing FLIRT fleet, they will be built in Switzerland.
