On 16 December 2021, ZSSK and Stadler Polska signed a contract for the delivery of four six-car KISS EMUs. The result of a tender was announced on 2 August 2021. They will be designed for 25 kV 50 Hz and will have a maximum speed of 160 km/h.
They will be used on the busy sections Bratislava - Púchov (- Žilina, the latter station until now fed by 3 kV DC), Bratislava - Nové Zámky and Bratislava - Kúty. For operation and maintenance purposes, they will also be diagrammed on the Kúty - Břeclav (CZ) and Trnava - Galanta sections. Until the overhead line power supply is converted to 25 kV 50 Hz at the Žilina junction, the KISSes will also be working on the Palárikovo - Zvolen - Banská Bystrica line.
