Arriva Trains Northern’s First Civity UK EMU Presented

In January 2016 Arriva Trains Northern awarded CAF a 492 million GBP contract for 31 three-car and 12 four-car Class 331 EMUs and 25 two-car and 30 three-car Class 195 DMUs, in all 98 new trains. The EMUs are now taking shape at CAF’s Zaragoza works, where on 31 January 2018 four-car 331 101 was presented to the media. Arriva Trains Northern is to to put these EMUs on its busiest routes, in particular those from Manchester to Preston, Blackpool and Manchester Airport, from early 2019. In March 2018 331 101 is to be sent to the VUZ Velim test centre, and will then be sent to Britain for testing on Network Rail, starting in August.
