Following locomotive Re 421 393, which in January and February 2020 was revised at Bellinzona works and rolled out in a historical TEE painting, IRSI (International Rolling Stock Investment) now presented a second locomotive in a historical livery. It is Re 421 387, the 1984-built Class Re 4/4 II machine, which was in the last few weeks overhauled at the SBB works in Bellinzona and now wears a beige and cobalt blue colours based on the former „Rheingold“ long-distance express train operated by Deutsche Bundesbahn, which ran from Amsterdam to different destinations in Switzerland in the 1960s.
Both Re 421s will be used mainly by TR Trans Rail for charter and special trains or for test runs, these being the company’s principal activities. In addition to the auhorisation for Switzerland, the locomotives are also approved and fitted for running in Germany and Austria.
At the beginning of July 2020 it is planned to use Re 421 387 on a special train to Berlin, see http://www.zrt.ch/nc/bahnreise/einzelheiten/sonderzug-nach-berlin/
