On 5 February 2025, the presentation of the first Dragon 2 locomotive from the Akiem order took place at the Newag works. On 16 November 2023, Newag concluded a contract for 30 of these locomotives with an option for 50 more. Of the thirty fixed-order machines, ten will be multi-system and twenty will be DC ones, equipped with the Last Mile module.
A larger number of multi-system locomotives have already been completed and will undergo commissioning runs during February. The first of these took place on 11 February 2025. The multi-system Dragons allow operation under 3 and 25 kV voltage and are equipped for operation in Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. They correspond to the design of 24 machines operated by PKP CARGO and used not only in Poland but also in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, some of which have been hired to PKP CARGO INTERNATIONAL, a subsidiary of PKP CARGO.
The locomotive designations for Akiem are related to these, for PKP CARGO they are ET43 001 - 024 / 3 260 003 - 026, the first locomotive for Akiem bears the designation 3 260 027 / E6MST-025, where E6MST is the manufacturer's type designation, not the class designation.
