On 1 April 2021, Subterra ordered an EffiShunter 1000 locomotive. It will be equipped with an on-board ETCS, so Subterra will become the first Czech private operator of a locomotive produced by CZ LOKO, which will be fitted with this European ATP.
Its EffiShunter will be used mainly for the transport of building materials and track mechanisation and in addition to increasing operational efficiency, the main reason for its acquisition is that it will be equipped with ETCS, which will be necessary for operation on the Czech main corridors from 1 January 2025. In addition to it, however, the national MIREL VZ1 ATP will also be installed, enabling also operation in Slovakia.
According to the contract, the locomotive with the number 744.150 is to be delivered in the first quarter of 2022 and will become the 50th EffiShunter 1000.
The 100 km/h locomotives are supplied with an 895 kW CAT C32 engine and have an AC/AC power transmission. The equipment also includes a CCTV, for work in demanding conditions of railway constructions, the Subterra’s locomotive will also be equipped with warning beacons to increase safety. The contract envisages long-term cooperation, including the possibility of purchasing additional machines.
