ECx Locomotives To Be Equipped With TSA Traction Motors

On 8 October 2020, Traktionssysteme Austria (TSA) announced that it was awarded contract by Ingeteam Power Technology to design and deliver traction motors for 23 TRAVCA locomotives to be used in the ECx trains of Deutsche Bahn.

The locomotives will be produced by Talgo in Madrid, while the Bilbao-based Ingeteam Power Technology will supply the entire drive technology. The order comprises 92 Type TMF 69-44-4 traction motors, making them one of the largest that TSA has ever developed and produced. The 230 km/h ECx push-pull trains are expected to enter service in 2023.
