Asynchronous Traction Motor For Class 2TE35A Locomotives

Gruppa Sinara announced that a meeting of the acceptance committee was held at Elektrotyazhmash-Privod of Lysva to assess the results of the development work on the Type TAD430 asynchronous traction motor produced for the new Class 2TE35A locomotives. 

The motor was developed according to the technical specification of Tyagovye komponenty (Traction components), the tests confirmed compliance with the requirements of the specification. The design and technological documentation has been assigned the letter O1, which allows the motor production to start - the initial batch will inlcude 160 motors (corresponding to ten Class 2TE35A two-section locomotives). The development, production and testing of the TAD430 motor took two years. The dimensions of the motor, weighing 2,350 kg, allow it to be mounted in four-axle bogies with the wheels of a 1,050 mm diameter.

The 16-axle 2TE35A locomotive was designed to haul trains weighing up to 7,100 tonnes in eastern Russia. A traction generator has been previously manufactured and certified for this new class, again by Elektrotyazhmash-Privod.
