EXPO 1520
Between 11 and 14 September 2013 VNIIZhT’s experimental test circuit at Shcherbinka hosted the Fourth International Railway Salon - EXPO 1520, the largest specialised exhibition event dedicated to the railway industry in Russia, the CIS and Baltic countries, which have 1,520 mm rail networks. We offer readers an absolutely unique, all-embracing report of this event, at which Railvolution was the General Information Partner.
In 2013 EXPO 1520 was used by RZD as an opportunity to exhibit not only its latest rolling stock and motive power acquisitions, but also to provide visitors with a chance to see some of its heritage vehicles in action.

The Russian Railway Industry Evolves
As regards the current status of the Russian railway industry, it can generally be stated that the healthiest sector is that of locomotive building, as is clearly seen in our EXPO 1520 report.
Locomotives of the latest generation are now becoming a common feature on the RZD network. Here are EP20-001, 002 and 009 at Moskva-Sortivorochnaya-Ryazanskaya depot on 7 October 2013.

Tauruses For ČD Railjet Haulage
On 18 September 2013 at Brno hl. n. the first of the seven ÖBB Class 1216 electrics destined to haul ČD railjets was presented to the general public.
1216 235, on 18 September 2013 before its presentation ceremony in ČD railjet livery, being passed by 1216 229, „Spirit of Prague“, sporting ÖBB railljet livery, heading EC 75 „Franz Schubert“ Praha - Wiener Neustadt.

Vidin - Calafat Danube Bridge Inaugurated
The wide, navigable Danube forms the border between Bulgaria and Romania for 453 km. Situated southwest of Craiova, the Vidin to Calafat Danube Bridge, inaugurated on 14 June 2013, forms only the second rail bridge over the river between the two countries.
