In late August, ČD announced it purchased two Type ES64U4 Tauruses from the Austrian operator RTS Rail Transport Service at a cost of around 5.6 million EUR. These are 1216 902 (built in 2007) and 1216 903 (built in 2010), two of the three RTS owned Tauruses (1216 901 retained with RTS). The Tauruses will be used on three pairs of EC trains between Wien Hbf and Bohumin, whose operation is now provided by the ČD's Class 380 locomotives.
On 26 September at night the two Tauruses crossed the borders near Břeclav. On the 27th 1216 903 was hauled dead to the depot in Bohumín to be an exhibit on Saturday's Railway Days there.
